Who doesn’t love Swanny? Dane Swan represents one of football's great characters and rags to riches stories. Taken deep in the 2001 National Draft, Swan was considered to be little more than a battler with limited ability. Move forward 258 games and 211 goals and the enigmatic tattooed champion ‘Swanny’ became an 'untaggable' elite midfielder with a record difficult to match.
Swanny is loved by fans of all clubs and genres, voted Magpie fan favourite in 2013 and 2015, he used part of his ‘gap year’ (after retiring in 2016) to rough it as an contestant on ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.’ True to his popularity, he came second on that fan voted show too. Swanny is sure to prove very entertaining!
Check the Swanny rapsheet:
- 2010 Premiership Player, named the AFL Coaches Award Champion Player of the Year and he won Collingwood’s Bob Rose Award (Best Player in Finals)
- 2011 Brownlow Medallist (he also came runner up on three other occasions)
